What types of ideas can I submit to the Biosense Webster, Inc. (BWI) Innovation Alliance?
Biosense Webster, Inc. supports electrophysiologists and cardiologists who treat patients with heart rhythm disorders and therefore generally look for ideas around products that will serve this patient population, such as:

However, Biosense Webster, Inc. may still consider a concept if it falls outside these parameters.
What type of products most commonly get approved for development?
The Biosense Webster, Inc. Innovation Alliance has introduced more than a dozen products to electrophysiologists and cardiologists, making significant and positive impacts on the patient treatment paradigm. Each year, the company reviews hundreds of concepts and then advances the most creative, valuable and executable. Our selections are based solely on our desire to uncover the best ideas to enhance the practice of electrophysiology for heart rhythm patients.
How many products are developed every year and is there a limit?
The number of products we develop depends entirely on the quality of the submissions. We do not limit or commit ourselves to a specific number, but rather are seeking important innovations that will benefit the arrhythmia community.
Is there a cost associated with submitting my product concept for consideration?
No. There is no fee associated with a concept submission. If the concept is accepted for development, Biosense Webster, Inc. will undertake R&D, engineering, testing and marketing costs.
Will I receive compensation from a product that makes it to the marketplace?
If the product is made available for sale, Biosense Webster, Inc. will work with you to determine fair compensation. An agreement will be put in place before development is started.
How long after submission will I receive notice about Biosense Webster, Inc.’s decision?
The Biosense Webster, Inc. Innovation Alliance will respond to your submission within 1 week of receipt and will have a decision regarding next steps within 3-4 weeks after an NDA is executed. We respond to all submissions.
If my product concept is not approved, may I resubmit my idea if I have changed the idea in a meaningful way?
Yes. The Biosense Webster, Inc. Innovation Alliance welcomes all unique and innovative product concepts. A revised idea will undergo review as if it was a fresh submission.
If my product is not approved, may I immediately submit my next, different idea?
Yes. The Biosense Webster, Inc. Innovation Alliance welcomes all unique and innovative product concepts. A new idea will undergo review as a fresh submission and there is no limit on the number of submissions.
What role does the physician/submitter play once Biosense Webster, Inc. accepts a product for development?
If an idea has been accepted for development, the physician will work closely with Biosense Webster, Inc.’s Research & Development (R&D) and engineering teams to flesh out the concept, develop prototypes and test the product. Please review the submission timeline , which details how often a physician can expect updates tracking the concept through the development process.
May I submit more than one product concept at a time to the Biosense Webster, Inc. Innovation Alliance?
Yes. Each submission will be tracked individually.
